Being a stay at home
mom was all I ever knew – I didn’t know a thing about owning my own
business. I can only imagine what business people do all day but for me
my days were all about laundry and cold medicine not merchant services
and meetings. But when my youngest son was 6 and went off to school I
decided I needed to start doing something to help keep my mind active.
Besides the crossword puzzle in the paper and walks with friends I
really didn’t have that much else going on so I started writing on my
own. At first it was just for fun but within a year I’d been asked to do
two articles for a local magazine and even a guest blog post! Now I’m
making money being a freelance writer and I find a lot of joy in being
able to contribute to my family in this new way. Plus, I’m not nearly as
bored at the end of the day like I always thought I would be – that was
nice!
