We live in an Antebellum home that we have updated. The walls are thick plaster so painting the interior is always tricky. You have to patch the plaster, sand the walls, and use special paint. Painters also charge a lot more to paint plaster walls than they do to paint regular dry wall. My husband and I did a lot of work to get our house ready for the painters. We removed all of the light switch covers and outlet covers in the house. We took down and stored all of the pictures and heavy mirrors on the walls. In the first rooms that are being painted we also moved the furniture away from the walls. The only thing that we did not have to move the house was the ADT security equipment. Repainting your home is definitely a pain but the way your home looks afterwards is definitely worth it. I just love the way that a freshly painted home looks, everything is so clean a crisp. The home is much brighter and more inviting.

ReplyDeleteYes, it is harder to paint a plaster wall than an ordinary smooth wall. And painters will charge more if they will be painting a plaster wall. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
