Lately, I was thinking to apply for a credit card. Though I don’t need it but I want to have one now for me to start establishing my credit and also for emergency purposes. I still hesitant though because my hubby really hates credit cards because of his bad experiences. But you know for me it can be an assets to your life, because aside from helping you to establish a good credit history, it provide a convenient payment method for purchases made online and over the phone. It is also more convenient to carry than cash and it offer free use of funds as long as you pay your balance in full, on time you won’t get in trouble.
That’s why I keep on reading about credit card reviews on how to handle it carefully and which one is the right one for me before I sign-up for one. Well, So far my choices are chase credit cards and citi credit cards. I still undecided because I 'm looking for one that is 0% balance transfer.
At first, I was scared to apply one for myself too because there are so many stories of fraud for credit cards(I'm scared that they'll charge me for transactions that I don't know about). But I got one recently, and so far I'm good with paying bills on time and staying on budget. Reading reviews about credit cards can really help you a lot, and I would suggest you get it from your trusted bank if they offer one.

ReplyDeleteI used to work in Times Asia before, an outsourcing agency of HSBC. What I've learned from credit cards is that the wisest idea to keep you out of a lot of charges is don't bring your credit card with you wherever you go. Because you will certainly be tempted to use it for unnecessary expenses. Keep it an a secured place, and use it only for emergencies.
ReplyDeleteOne way for credit card companies to make money is they bill you not on the 15th and the 30th of the month so that you won't be able to pay on the cut-off date, the billing date. This is the case in the Philippines. I don't know with the US.
So to avoid the penalties and surcharges, use the credit card very wisely.
It's really great to have a credit card. I was able to buy several appliances at cash prices and payable in easy installments of six months at zero interest rate. Now, how do you beat that. I just see to it that I pay the whole amount of payables each month to avoid penalties and surcharges. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
