Keeping Warm in the Winter

Guest post written by Steve Gable
Winter time is finally here, and even though we had an unseasonably warm November in upstate New York, things are really starting to get a colder now. The temperature is starting to drop into freezing range and we definitely have to use our heater more and more. However, just the other day, our heating system was on the fritz. I don't think it has seen maintenance and years, and to be honest, it's probably just time for us to a get a new one. My family doesn't really do that well when it comes to enduring the cold, so I really need to ensure that it gets fixed as soon as possible.
I started checking out some home improvement websites when I stumbled upon HOMEPROIMPROVEMENT.com from Sears. I'm looking for something that conserves energy while still hitting up every room in the house...that sounds pretty good to me. First step, get a heating specialist. Then maybe I can get some tips and find out about options for installation. This really is something I need to get to ASAP!

Honey and Cinnamon Cures

It’s cheap and tastes good, so why not give it a try!
Honey is frequently mentioned in the Bible; it was referred to as a wholesome food, a helpful medicine, an ingredient of delicious drinks, an appropriate gift and a valued possession.  Here are some ways you may find it helpful in your daily life.
Cinnamon and Honey
Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing".   When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.  Facts on Honey and Cinnamon:  It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.  Honey can be used without any  side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients.   Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:
HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack.  Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.  In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.
ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.
BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm waterand drink it.. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

CHOLESTEROL
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours.   As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.
COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.
UPSET STOMACH:
Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.
GAS:
According to the studies done in India and Japan , it is revealed that if Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM:
Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacterial andviral diseases.
INDIGESTION:
Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.
INFLUENZA:
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ' Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.
LONGEVITY:
Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increase and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:
Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:
Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.

FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.
BAD BREATH:
People of South America , first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.
HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!

You might want to share this information with a friend, kinfolks and loved ones.  What they do with it is up to them !!!!!
Thanks my boss MB for sharing this to me...

Marshmallow Snowmen Treats

Guest post written by Cindy Sloope
I really think sometimes that there's a huge teacher conspiracy that they host all these holiday parties and ask kids to bring things so that they can have all these great foods and treats to eat. But then again, if I was a teacher I would think that way and do the exact same thing. So of course, my kids have already found out about how they have to bring holiday treats to class on a certain for their annual holiday parties.
But when your kids are 6 and 8, the burden of actually making treats of course falls on the parents. I've been looking online for an idea about what to make and while I was doing that I came across some WIRELESS INTERNET prices that looked pretty apealing. I read a little more about the internet service and changed our internet service at home over to it.
For my daughter's class, I found this idea for marshmallow snowmen and decided that would be really neat for her to take. The only thing kids love more than sweets is themed sweets.

I'm Back! But Just For Awhile :-(

I’ve been depressed lately because of some serious family matters, work and being so tied up  by  the household chores. I  lost my interest in blogging and I was thinking of quitting from it for good. But the more  I  plan of it the more I miss being here. I know in my heart that  I do love blogging, I do want to learn more about writing and I miss doing it  especially in a regular basis. And of course I miss all my blogger buddies and my  new found friends here! But for me  weeks of being not around here feels  like years.  I  don’t know what to say and where to start.  I’m kinda lost of thoughts. Oh well I‘ll try…. After Thanksgiving I’ve been busy  because of my daughter’s  school events one of which is the play. I had to go with her and stay there until she’s done for the audition. But I proud to say that she passed it. They started the rehearsals 2 weeks ago so I  just have to pick her up from school every Tuesday at 3:00pm. The play will be on somewhere in February of 2011.
Last December 11 (Saturday) we’re just done celebrating one of the big event of this year my daughter’s 11th birthday! That was the very first time that we’ve thrown her  a  party  with her schoolmates and friends  since we came here. We’re glad that everyone came to the party  had a wonderful time and so much fun. Well, after that busy weekend, I put up our Christmas tree for my daughter's wish, filled out the Christmas cards and sent out last weekend.  We also started  shopping for the holiday gifts  a week ago and until yesterday. We just have 2 gifts left  to pick up and we’re done! I miss you all!
Happy Holidays!

A Farmhouse Christmas

Guest post written by Lucy Dower
We moved into an old farmhouse a few years ago, which has been my dream for such a long time. My aunt and uncle used to live in a farmhouse kind of like it and I always admired it. I definitely had that in mind when we bought the one that we're living in now. Up until now though, we've been using the same Christmas decorations that we used in our old house just out of habit. This year though, I wanted to get some more farmhouse looking decorations for a more rustic Christmas look.
I went online to try and come up with some decorations I could make or figure out ways I could change our existing ones to better suit the farmhouse look. While I was doing that I ran across the website  www.ClearTVBundle.com and changed over my internet service at home to it after I read through the site. One of the rustic ideas that I found was to make some wooden Christmas ornaments that were almost exactly what I had been looking for.

Thank You Everyone!

Sorry I haven’t gone here much lately. I was busy monitoring on what’s going on to my Dad almost everyday also keeping up with the holidays. Well, about my father  sad to say he isn’t doing well, he refused to undergo dialysis because of financial reasons. I called him last Thursday  to let him know  that my sister (the one who lives in  Sacramento California) and I are  working out to see him real soon  and that she just need to get her passport renewed. He asked me how soon it will be. I said when Mommy Ne get her passport probably by January. He replied back to me “that it is a long way to wait“. He said can you come end of December? Tears runs from my eyes when I heard  it.  I can’t utter any words anymore. I couldn’t breathe much and my chest was so heavy.  I was trying to be strong  because  I don’t want my father to hear my sobbing.
Well,  yesterday my sister went to the Philippines consulate of San Francisco. I guess things  is not doing well  with us because my sister found out that she has to wait until January 22nd for her passport to be release. There’s another option that the PI consulate advised her to do., but she doesn’t know if she’s going to take it.  Well, all I can say is to hope that we can fly home real soon. By the way  I would like to say thank you to all my blogger friends who say their prayers for my Dad especially to MelMykeAnnie and Mhars.

Pine Hill Tree Cutting

Written by my friend Marquis Finley
Every year my husband and I take our two daughters out to Pine Hill to cut down a Christmas tree for our home. We make it a tradition to wake up at dawn and have a scrumptious breakfast before setting out on our journey. After breakfast we all head out the door, set the home security alarm (check it out) and pile into the truck. It is a hour drive to Pine Hill so the girls usually sleep on the way. Once we get there we let the girls run wild for a brief moment before starting the search. Once we are ready to find the perfect tree, we round up the girls and start looking. We try to stay at least 20 minutes to make the trip exciting and worth our while. Last year we found a huge, bushy, beautiful tree that filled our living room amazingly! I am hoping that this year my husband can get his son from his previous marriage to come along. It has been years since we have enjoyed his presence on Christmas day. But that is a whole new story for another day.
