5th Grade Night

Hello everyone! I guess most of you had so much fun with your family and friends last weekend. Not me! we 've been working hard in 3 weekends already. Well,  my weekdays had been so crazy  since the school days begun. Having a 5th grader student here is a busy year  not only for the kids but also for  the parents.  Actually, we just came from 5th Grade Night. The principal and teachers  discussed about the whole year activities  of 5th Graders. This year, the teacher's added  more activities to  train them in  preparation for  the Middle School  Class by next year. I am so happy about  what I 've heard and also, the teaching techniques here. Now, I know why every person that I 've talked, they always commented that my daughter is so lucky to be here. Because they said that the "Best Schools" are here in Boston Massachusetts. Well, all I can say is  I am always hoping for the best  especially for my daughter's studies. All I wanted for her is to be somebody someday.  Time for me to say goodnight. I am beginning to fall asleep while typing.  I am  feeling so tired.  I've been out since this morning .  Have a fantastic day tomorrow everyone!

Something We Have to Do

There are so many things to do in life. Work out, mow the lawn, make sure the kids are behaving themselves (being quiet, but not too quiet); the list just seems to go on and on. If there were 48 hours in a day, you could probably get it all done. With that being said, a lot of the things you do in life are not even really about you, so much as they are about your role in the rest of the world. Consider, for example, that every time you drive, you are putting everyone around you in a small amount of danger.
While you are probably a decent enough driver, you really don't buy car insurance  just because you might crash into somebody else. While that is a good reason for it, that is far from the only reason why we make sure that our cars are fairly well-insured. The law doesn't exactly hurt as a reason, either. Just think about how infrequently you use the fact that you have insurance on your car, and you might start to wonder about it. For something you may only use a couple of times in your entire lifetime, it may even start to seem kind of ridiculous.
But of course, there is always a method to the madness in this world. If somebody else were to crash into you, you would want them to be as well insured as humanly possible, in order to not have to pay for things out of pocket. Most people do not have the kind of cash needed to properly fix up a badly damaged car, after all. And because of that, we have insurance, whether we typically end up needing it or not. So when you buy insurance on your car, remember it isn't all you.

Unexpected Trip to Paris

Thanks to Erasmo Cortez
OK so my sister was returning from a business trip overseas last week. She had a quick stop in Paris to change planes but ended up with a 24 hour layover. Believe it or not, she actually called me from the airport to complain. She and her co-worker were being put up by the airline at a nice hotel next to the Eiffel Tower . I was confused. I mean, it's basically a free trip to Paris, right?! Food and lodging paid for! Out of all the international travel she has done, she's never actually been to Paris. Of course, it is number one on my list! I watch tons of travel shows on the channels we get through our  satelite tv deals so I was glad to finally put all that knowledge to work. I gave her a quick run down on what I would do if it were me, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, croissants, the Louvre, a walk on the Left Bank, the Musee d'Orsay. It's only 24 hours so they had to cram in as much as possible. I got those two ladies whipped into shape and told them to sleep on the plane ride home. They hopped on a tour bus and saw as much as possible during the three hour tour. They had dinner at an outdoor cafe and saw the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. I'm so jealous. Just out of curiosity, what would you have done?

Who’s Absentminded?

Are you ready for this? Well, it’s not just sitcom stereotype. Men really are more prone than the fairer sex to memory problems as they age, causing missed appointments, misplaced keys, and more. According to a study, the culprit: mild cognitive impairment. Men 70 and up are more than 50 percent likelier to suffer from MCI than women of the same age. To prevent such forgetfulness, get your guy-and yourself-moving. Middle aged adults who exercise five to six times a week (brisk walking is Okay) are far less likely to develop MCI later in life.

Payday Loans Help you in a Pinch

If you watch television, receive email, and have a mailbox, chances are you’ve seen or heard about payday loan. People encounter financial difficulty throughout their lives because of medical bills, unexpected auto or home repairs, skyrocketing mortgages, student loans, credit cards, and other sources of debt. While these debts are manageable by themselves, bills have a tendency to pile up and compound at the end of the month. Creating a budget helps, but it is difficult to forecast financial commitments for the entire month.
Bills are a part of life, but what happens when you cannot pay the minimum balance going forward/ Companies, excluding credit cards, are not regulated, like how much they charge you for late fees and partial payments. Paying three or four bills late adds an additional $150 to $200 in late fees, making it almost impossible to come out ahead next month. It is a deadly cycle that affects thousands of people each year. After a couple of late payments, your credit score decreases, interest rates rise, and your financial integrity is in jeopardy.
Granted, payday loans have their drawbacks, but it is a viable option for individuals who have multiple bills due without the financial resources to pay them. Payday loans are less expensive than using a high interest credit card or cash advance and typically transfer funds to your bank account within 24 hours, depending on the service. When you need cash in a pinch, these loans deliver faster than any other personal bank loan.
Furthermore, with payday loans, you know how much is due and when. With companies, you never know what their late fees are or how much you will be penalized. Before taking out the loan, you are given a series of repayment options to fit your needs, such as multiple installments spanning two or more pay periods.

My Spices

When I am just learning how to cook, I try so many different recipes.  I used to follow each ingredients written from the cookbook.  So, every time a recipe call for a different  spice,  I buy it   because  I was afraid to experiment putting other spices. Last Friday I re-organized my  spice rack  because it‘s getting crowded already. I was surprised how much I accumulated them.
Now,  I don’t have enough space for storing. I guess I have to buy another kitchen spice racks. I think this time the perfect one for me to get is a wall spice rack. I need one that I can hang to the wall, a space saver and more spacious one. Because I don’t have  enough room inside the cabinet where I put all my spices. I seen so many spice racks that are beautifully made but they are bulky.  So, my choice is a wall mounted spice rack. Like this one.

Favorite Fashion Themed Show on TV

This guest post from Lenny Mcknight
Fashions change with the weather and season. Every week there is another new favorite fashion trend hitting the runways. This makes it very difficult to keep up with the new fashion trends unless you have an insider view of what is going on in the fashion industry. I find that it is easy to keep up with the current fashion trends and new talent by watching shows like Project Runway on the Lifetime Network. The show is hosted by former high fashion model  Heidi Klum Heidi Klum. This show just keeps getting better and better each season. This show focuses on showcasing hot new talent and their great inspirational designs. The contestants are in a competition to design the best outfit. The designs by the contestants are judged and one or more contestants are eliminated each week. Once you get into the show, it can be very exciting and inspiring to watch. It is easy to see why this great show on the Lifetime Network is so popular and it is my favorite fashion themed show on TV on satellite tv especially now that I know how much is satellite tv.

On Health Tips: Mushrooms

Experts says to help fight cancer...add mushroom to your diet. Mushrooms rank up there with broccoli as an excellent source of disease-fighting antioxidants...Enjoy the the popular portobello or cremini mushroom for maximum benefits! Explore more foods this weekend everyone...As for me it's a busy weekend once again. We're bound to Cape Cod to re-do the pool. Because it  was ruined by the heavy snow last winter so we didn't get to use it this summer. It needs a lot of work before we'll  get to use it again. :(
Have fun everyone! I'll see you all soon...Ciao!!!

Poe Museum

Guest post written by Ellen Call
My favorite American writer is hands down Edgar Allan Poe. He just had this amazing way with words in an amazingly creepy way that I love and respect. So when I hear that I was going on a business trip to Richmond I knew that I would make a stop at the museum about him there. Althought it was a self-guided tour I stood there and talked to the lady that was behind the counter in the gift shop for a long time. She was so soft spoken and I had a hard time understanding everything that she said. After I got home to the hotel and had settled down with my new book of his complete works, it occurred to me that I should probably look up miracle ear cost and  Hearing Aid Reviews if I was having that much trouble hearing that lady talk. So I did just that and I have an appointment to go and get some in a few days. The only thing that I was disappointed about at that museum was that to see where he's buried I have to travel to Baltimore. But I already have a business trip there soon so I'm going to work that in!

Chains

This month  it  means more cooler temperatures, the leaves change colors and  soon the leaves are falling. It also means, more weather changes especially here where I live. The start of the day was so nice and sunny then all of  a sudden rain falls like cats and dogs. So, I have to accompany my daughter waiting for the bus. Because she can’t go by herself carrying her heavy loaded trolley bag while carrying an umbrella.
I like rain but every time it rains, I feel bad for my garden. Because the huge  amount of  rain water that comes from the gutter  ruined some of my flowers.  So, I asked my hubby what can we do for a precaution. He told me to look online for a rain chains. He said that  rain chain helps the rain water down to the ground  and it also added attraction to your house or garden.  He’s right I myself enjoyed looking to those different kinds of styles, shapes and colors of a chains rain.  My favorite kind is this one.

My 1st Massachusetts Lobster

My hunnie brought me a lobster last Friday from his work. I was so surprised ! Oh well,   I've hounded him to get me one since we came here, when I saw it in one of a Sea Food Store in Cape Cod. That time it was so costly, so he said "oh maybe, I will get one later. I said , okay! I guess I've just forget all about it.  I had one in California when I'm with my sister but the taste is different than the one here. My hunnie told me that cold water seafoods are taste better than warm water seafoods. Also the lobster from cold water has a claws, the one from the warm water has none.
hummmm yuuuummmy!  this  taste so good, so fresh, and sweet. I love it! Thanks hunnie and my princes for preparing it for me

Have A Wonderful Start Of The Week Everyone!!!

Bulletin Boards

Back home I’ve always had a bulletin board for my daughters home schedules, school activities and my yearly school  rules. Now I just put it into writing, printed it out and hang it to the wall. Because I couldn’t find like  the  small combo  bulletin boards that I had back home.  I am looking for a combination of cork board and dry erase bulletin board.  I went to an office and school supplies store nearby, but everything there are mostly big ones. They sell mostly big school bulletin boards.  I hope I can find one this year. Because I don’t want to be disorganized and always miss all the important school activities of my daughter again. For me having a bulletin board helps me to remember important papers and dates that I pin and write on it.

My Princess 1st American Girl Doll

After  months that my daughter hounded me to buy her an American girl doll. Finally she got it last Tuesday (August 31, 2010).  Her biological Dad sent her money to buy her doll. Well, I can’t put into words how happy she was that day. She was so giggled, her eyes was twinkling etc. She said to me that Molly (name of her doll) is a special one because her Dad gave it to her. Well, I couldn't believe that we spent $190.00 plus tax just for 1 doll and 1 set of accessories.  Oh well! as long as my princess is happy, I am happy. :-) I want   to say  thank you to her father for making her so happy. Anyway, here are some photo’s that I took.
Have a safe and fun weekend everyone!

Online Grocery Shopping

Guest post written by Joan Pruitt
A lot of the time going to the grocery store is really just too much of a hassle, then sometimes I just go grocery shopping because I'm bored. But I think I've found a way to get around both of those problems, online grocery shopping. You can literally buy anything online and I thought it would be crazy to by food online but my husband talked me into it over a year ago and I honestly haven't been in a grocery store since then. I'll admit, I do go to the farmers market to get a lot of fresh fruit and stuff like that, but I always go with a friend and that's more of a social activity than a chore.
I started the online grocery shopping because I had trouble hearing the people at the checkout line. After a while of that I started online grocery shopping and went to miracle ear , where I got some hearing aids. Then I just kept on shopping for groceries online. It was just too easy and convenient. Also, it's so much easier for me to get everything on my grocery list because when I'm in the grocery store I get really distracted and end up buying things I don't need and forgetting things that I do need. Sometimes my husband says that he misses going to the grocery store together on the weekends, and when that happens I tell him we can sit on the couch and grocery shop together if he wants.

A Quick Tip: Iced Tea

Making a lot of refreshing iced tea?Expert recommend when making it start with freshly drawn water.  Because water that that has been sitting in your teakettle, especially if it has previously been boiled, should not be used for tea because it becomes de-oxygenated and tastes flat. FYI: Iced tea is best served on the day it's made.
  • Finally.... - I get a chance to grab the 2nd award of my baby blog today. Thank you so much Spiky of Oh Bite!: A Journey To Plates for giving me this award and for app...
