Our Kitchen Badly Need A Wall Renovation

Little by little my hubby and I  have done  a lot of work cleaning, organizing, and re-doing around the house. He’s goal is to finish cleaning and organizing our basement before the winter comes. After the basement,  he wants  to continue do our kitchen next. Because I already complained how it looks  now after they removed  the tiles of the kitchen wall.
We are still undecided what kind of  tiles were going to put on our kitchen wall. My choice is the Subway tiles.  I always admire  the art works, designs, styles and  different colors of  a subway tiles. Well,  can't wait to see the kitchen become nice again.

I Felt Bad...

Earlier I came outside to check on my   flowers and our vegetables garden. Well, they're all doing great except that it needs to be weeded. I felt bad, I can't do much for them lately. I don't have time! I always feel tired and so stressed especially in the afternoon since we came home from Summer House.  I don't have the power to go out  and weed.  It could be the heat  that does it to me or maybe I over worked myself. Anyway, here are some of the photo's of our green garden.
This is just one of our pepper plants, it called banana pepper. My hubby planted it for me because he knows that I love hot pepper.  These kind of pepper is similar to our pepper back home. It 's a very small pepper plant but it gives us a lot of fruits. I took 15 fruits from it already. but still  giving us more.  Well, aside from  banana peppers, we also planted Italian peppers, basils and tomatoes.  I love vegetables and  fruits fresh from the garden. It taste much better compared when you buy it at the stores.

Cape Cod has the Best Salt Water Taffy

Thanks to Harold Hyde
What is your favorite snack to eat while watching direct tv ? In the summertime my favorite is salt water taffy that we first found on our initial trip to Cape Cod in Massachusetts.  We usually take a trip to Cape Cod in early summer and buy enough at a roadside stand in West Yarmouth to last for a few weeks after we get home. They have something like 30 different flavors all spread out in wicker baskets and you choose your own to put in a bag or box. Fun and yummy!
I just got satellite TV last week and my neighbor Joe came over to see how it was working. Joe and his wife sometimes come over on Sunday night to watch a movie with us. They think the taffy is great too. They wanted us to bring some back for them this year. Joe's favorite kind is pina colata, while his wife likes the peach flavor. My favorites are the coffee and molasses flavors. Yum! The taffy snack is easy to prepare. All you have to do is pour it in a big bowl and put it on the coffee table before you turn on the television. Then all you do is unwrap it and pop it in your mouth. You don't have to go out to the kitchen and waste time preparing something.

A Day at Titlow Park

Thanks for the post, Nora Howe
My family and I enjoy spending our sunny summer days at Titlow Park in Tacoma, Washington. This serene, majestic park is located on Puget Sound and neighbors the Narrows Bridge. Considering the serene, tranquil beauty of the park, it has few visitors, which my family and I enjoy. The views of the islands, plant and wildlife  is abundant. The trails running through the park are endless mazes crisscrossing one another leading towards the beach or woodlands depending on the path chosen. We always picnic on the beach and watch the sun go down and the lights of the magnificent Narrows Bridges light up.
I always make sure to pack my husband and children's favorite picnic foods. My husband has a passion for fresh fruits and vegetables, where my kids love potato chips and dips. Myself, well I always make sure to bring sweet tea, it is my favorite drink, and I enjoy munching on pita bread with hummus. Even though we are not too far from the house I always make sure to set my home alarm system. This gives my family and me the sense of security while we enjoy the sunsets and food in one of our favorite spots. My parents love to come and visit as well, so I got them a adt smoke detector near Tulsaso they can feel safer leaving the house.

Ceiling Fan

Summer brings more than warm breezes and sunny days. Times like this, most people like to use air conditioner. For me I prefer to use ceiling fan when the room is already pretty cool.  It does help in ventilating the room and keeping a normally stuffy area of the home cool and airy. Ceiling fans are cost effective. They save the cost of electricity as well as the money spend in air conditioning. Because of the high cost of electricity nowadays. We need to be cautions on our electric usage.
If you want to save some penny also from your electric bill. Start using ceiling fans as an  alternative for your air conditioner. For your ceiling fan needs you can go to Hansen Wholesale Ceiling Fans.  Also their quality brand names products are up to date and of the latest design.

On Home Tips: Kitchen Sponges

Microwaving kitchen sponges for two minutes kills germs. Try this trick with cellulose types only (not metallic scrubbing pads or synthetic varieties), and soak them in a water first so they won't catch fire. Don't zap sponges that have detergent or other chemicals on them-they could release toxic fumes.

Indoor and Outdoor Planters

I love gardening but sad to say I can only do it in summer time. I do want to keep my garden not only in summer time but all year round especially my veggies garden.  But it’s impossible for me to  do it here  because of the weather. Soon it’s winter time again. Everything will be covering  by the snow for like 6 months or more. I am thinking of having a indoor planter for my veggies starting this year.  I always prefer using fresh herbs in my cooking. So, I guess  having an indoor planters I can  have my favorite herbs  all year round.

Next year summer I plan to have a flower garden in an outddor planter I like it because it is easy for me to move anywhere I want. It saves you time in re-doing  your yard.  Because of  it’s different shapes, sizes and designs outdoor planters    adds  more beauty to your yard.

Summer Must Haves

I’m back again everyone! I came home early from work. I cooked food right away. We had an early dinner  and  I don’t have work tomorrow that’s why I am here. And here’s the final part of my series of posts on “how to save your skin” Guys, even if you already slather on SPF 50, don’t stop there. “Sunscreen’s essential, but we often sweat it off and fail to reapply as often as we should” If you and especially your kids, will be out in the sun for any extended period, shield yourselves with these extra sun blockers:
A HAT. Look for one with a wide brim and tightly woven fabric to keep as many of the sun’s rays off your face as possible.

A SUN PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. The tightly woven fabric is often also treated with UV-absorbing chemicals. You can find in  a lot of  store  now  for sun-protective clothes for swimming, golf, biking, and more that block up to 98% UV rays.
SUNGLASSES. Invest in shades labeled “99% UV blocking” for your entire family. Excess sun exposure leads to muscular degeneration and cataract development. And 10% of all skin cancers appear on the upper and lower eyelids.
LIP BALM. Regularly wear lip balm with “SPF 15” or higher and reapply it often.

Go out and enjoy the sun but always with cautions!

Hire a Pet Sitter

This post is from Mark Morton
For those of you with pets, what do you do when it comes to vacation time? Perhaps some of you take your beloved pets on vacation. However, not everyone is so fortunate that they can afford to take a pet on vacation. These people often end up sending their beloved pets to a dog kennel or other care-taking place for pets. However, one less expensive way to care for your favorite pet is by hiring a pet sitter. In addition, hiring a pet sitter can be a great way to protect your home while traveling.

So, how does a pet sitter protect your home while you are on vacation? Well, a pet sitter makes it appear like people are still home while you are gone. This has the effect of deterring any thieves that are thinking about breaking into your home. If it looks like someone is home, then there is a greater chance a thief will be caught and turned into the police. One of the best ways to care for your pets and protect your home is by hiring a pet sitter. Before I leave my own home for vacation, I am always sure to set my alarm devices and hire a pet sitter. By hiring a pet sitter, I feel more secure in the knowledge that my pet is being taken care of and that my home is being protected!

Pool Cover

Last end of summer we bought a new tarp for our pool because the old one though it’s pretty good canvas tarp but there’s a lot of small holes already. My hubby doesn’t want to take a chance using it again. He was worried that  it  get rip off of heavy snow. Also that time he's avoiding the leaves from the tree around the pool to get into it.. Because  he said it was happened before we came here. He told me that it took him almost 2 months cleaning it  until the  water get cleared again.

Well, the one we bought  now isn’t  as high end as the old one. We’ve just got a blue tarp because we’re out of budget that time. We don’t have a choice the important is to save it from  the long winter time. But it didn’t do anything good in  saving the pool. It got ripped off so easily then everything caved in. I will take a photo of it later how bad it is now. Sometimes when you want to save some money it will end up causing you more.
Now my hubby just waiting for me to have a time off  from work for us to go to Summer House to fix it. Everything  needs to be change including the liner. Surely, it will cost a lot of money but what can we do? Anyway, it’s a lesson learned. I told him to get the right one. Probably a heavy duty  one will do.

Save Your Skin Part 3: More Than A Mole?

Sorry, guys it takes time for me to post it.  I am loaded with work schedule lately. I worked morning shift and night shift.  Good for me but not good for my blog lol! I can’t find much time to do  post but I hang in there.  Anyway, here is the continuation of my summer tips on how to save your skin.

According to my dermatologist. The easiest way to catch cancer early is to know what to look for and to see your dermatologist for an annual full-body skin check. Unfortunately, to many of us slack off when it comes to monitoring our moles: A recent survey found that  are few women get a skin cancer screening at least once a year.
RECOGNIZE THE RED FLAG FOR SKIN CANCER
Basal cell carcinoma
See a doctor if you spot…a persistent sore that won’t heal; a pimple-like bump that looks pearly translucent, pink, red or white (may be tan or brown on dark-haired people). Often appears on body parts that get excessive sun exposure-especially that face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders and back-though can be anywhere.
Squamous cell carcinoma
See a doctor if you spot…a whitish, wart-like growth or a persistent, red, scaly patch, with irregular borders that sometimes crusts or bleeds. Can surface anywhere on the body that’s gotten prolonged sun exposure but is commonly seen on the lower lip and the tops of the ears.
Melanoma
See a doctor if you spot…A mole or dark spot that has one or more of the following ABCDE warning signs: Asymmetry (one side doesn’t match the other), Border irregularity (edges are ragged), Color (pigmentation varies), Diameter (larger than a pencil eraser) and Evolving (the spot appears to be changing in size, shape, color or elevation). Malignant moles can appear anywhere, but check often-overlooked parts like nail beds, palms of the hands and bottoms of the feet.  Good luck everyone!
  • Finally.... - I get a chance to grab the 2nd award of my baby blog today. Thank you so much Spiky of Oh Bite!: A Journey To Plates for giving me this award and for app...
