A Long Day

Hello! How are you my dear blog buddies and friends. I just came home from work. I feel so exhausted and  it was a long day for me. But I am happy with my job especially seeing the residents  so excited every time they see me and looking forward when they going to see me again. Resident Care Assistant is not an easy job at all. You need to have a lot of patience and perseverance dealing with them. You have to always need and practice  presence of mind in pouring pills and giving it to them or else you will be in big trouble if you give them a wrong medication and so on….
I had fun and learned a lot of new things today. That's why,  I always excited going to work. I love to see and talk to the residents with different kind of topics from American history to current events. I feel good and so relax being with them. Most of the time it is overwhelming hearing them praise you. In my job I also see that the golden years is not that golden really.  Because seeing the pills that they have to take everyday, the aches and pains they experiencing and going to their doctors almost everyday of the week.  And sometimes I could take a peek of them inside their room, they would be looking at the window alone.  Suddenly, I feel a pinch in my heart and I feel so lonely and sad for them. Oh boy! if only I can take care of them all everyday I would. Well, guys I have to go beddy bye bye  now. I am soooo tired! Enjoyed the rest of the weekend with your family and friends everyone.
My 1st gift  from our big boss yesterday in celebration of  Nursing Home Week 2010! It's a picnic blanket and a thank you note.

  1. You have a very exciting job looking after the welfare of golden boys and girls. Their lives are really very lonely. Aged people in the Philippines are taken care of by their relatives and not shunted off to nursing homes. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.

  3. Mel and Khim,

thank you guys for your comments. Yes, Mel you're right old people there in our country are so lucky because there is always a family that will take care of them when time comes that they can't work or do anything for themselves here the choices that they have is either rest home or a home care facilities when your old and can't take care of yourself. But you have to sacrifice your property for you to live with care until you go.

I agree with you my dear friend Khim. What is good of a high paying rate if your not happy especially the environment you're working with right? :)
