Levitra (vardenafil) is a drug used by men with erectile dysfunction (ED). It enables a return to sexual activity by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping enable and maintain an erection. The drug is prescribed by a medical doctor after an examination. While users may be tempted to do so, Levitra should not be shared with others suffering from the same condition.
The average dosage for most men is 10 mg; however, some may need less while others might need the maximum (20 mg). The determining factors when it comes to dosage are body weight, health status, and medication being taken for other conditions. If the dosage given is not producing the desired result, users should speak to their doctors and not attempt to change the dosage themselves.
How to Use Levitra
It is important to follow the directions of a medical doctor when taking Levitra. General guidelines for using Levitra are:
• The tablet should be taken a minimum of 25 minutes prior to starting sexual activity. The time the drug starts working varies from person to person, with some reports indicating as little as 15 minutes. However, the average time is 25 minutes for most men.
• Never take more than one dose per day.
• Avoid alcohol to minimize the risk that the drug won't work as it should. In addition, drinking alcohol with Levitra can cause a lowering of blood pressure, and dizziness and fainting can occur.
• Levitra can be taken on an empty stomach or with food.
• Avoid drinking grapefruit juice when taking Levitra as it can increase the levels of vardenafil in the body. Vardenafil is the actual name of the drug that treats the problem.
Levitra, like other drugs containing vardenafil, has proven to be effective for treating many cases of erectile dysfunction. Men using the drug should consult their doctor if they experience side-effects.
