The Scott Kay brand is best known for its use of platinum. Scott Kay and his collections are considered leaders in the resurgence of platinum usage. Both the artist and the company have received numerous awards, including high praise from the prestigious Platinum Guild International.
Currently Scott Kay has turned his design direction toward the use of palladium for his ring collections. In a recent interview Scott Kay stated, “Palladium is natural, it’s hard, it’s white, and it’s hypoallergenic. It’s not as dense as platinum or gold and that’s a good thing. If platinum was 40 percent less dense, it would be more precious to the jewelry industry, because as it is, you can’t make earrings and bracelets out of it.”
Scott Kay strives to get buyers to become collectors of his pieces, which he considers art. In fact, he recently opened his flagship store in an undisclosed location in New York City. Called SK66, this store will not be open to the public and is available by invitation only. Says Scott Kay, “'SK66' is my highway to life and was created from the initials of my name, birth date month and day. One-of-a-kind designs and fine jewelry artistry that is near and dear to my heart will be shown. SK66 will mirror a dedication to an atmosphere of beauty, fine art, culture, and heritage.”
Historical items from around the world will surround invitees and guests to the store. Scott Kay wanted his store to be museum-like because of his love for jewelry as well as the fine arts.
Scott Kay has been engaged in jewelry creation for more than 30 years. After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, he founded his company in 1984. His company philosophy is also that of the company’s: “Never Compromise.”
The Scott Kay collections are available at many fine retail outlets around the world, as well as certain online resources.
